1844年，新加坡华侨陈笃生为了新加坡人的看病方便，带头创建医院。这所医院后来以他的名字命名为“陈笃生医院”。

Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), established in 1844, is the second largest acute care general hospital in Singapore, with specialty centres in Rehabilitation Medicine and Communicable Diseases.

Named after its founder, Mr Tan Tock Seng, a Chinese entrepreneur and philanthropist. The hospital is a member of the National Healthcare Group and continues to provide high quality holistic healthc are services to the people of Singapore. After three major moves in its long and distinguished history, the hospital now provides most of its services in one modern complex, comprising the Hospital Block, the TTSH Medical Centre and the Podium Block. Our 1,200-bed hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and medical equipment, as well as the latest communication and information technology tools.

Tan Tock Seng Hospital champions the development of Geriatric Medicine, Infectious Disease Management, Rehabilitation Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, Rheumatology , Allergy & Immunology in Singapore.

We are also a major referral centre for Geriatric Medicine, General Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Diagnostic Radiology, Gastroenterology, Otorhinolaryngology (Ear, Nose & Throat) and Orthopaedic Surgery.

　　印象之一医院不像医院

　　医院对于我们是再熟悉不过了，然而，新加坡的医院与我国的医

　　院有很大差别。新加坡陈笃生医院由华人陈笃生资助，医院由两个CDC、一个康复中心和一个综合性医疗总部组成，是一家拥有1000多张床位的公立医院。走进医院第一印象就如走进了一个购物中心，医院的二楼拥有大型餐厅、面包房、花店、冲印店、书店、药店、服装店、咖啡吧、超市、水果店等，让我们忘了是在医院。医院的博物馆更让人耳目一新，这里除了大力宣传了陈笃生之外，还陈列了医院每个时期的宝贵资料，包括用过的针筒、手术器械、医疗设备、友好往来的资料以及各种图片等，形成了一种大家能看得见的医院文化。到了医院就如进入了一个功能齐全的社区。 [医 学教 育网 搜集 整理]

　　印象之二专科不分病区

　　如今我国医院的专科越分越细，专科病区越分越多。而新加坡的

　　医院没有一个专科病区，取而代之的是病区分为A、B、C三级：A级病区相当于我国的高级病房，一人间，设施齐全，服务一流，收费一流，费用最高；B级病房双人间，处于中档级别；C级病房6～8个床位一间，是全医保病房，低收入者可得到基本的医疗保障。在不同级别的病区有各专科的病人，专科医生查房全院跑。而设备一流的

　　ICU成了各专科重症患者的避风港。医生的水平尽在ABC级中体现，

　　A级病人越多说明这个医生的知名度越高。一流的服务充分体现了“人性化”这三个字，最大程度地满足了患者的需求，与国内医疗市场服务的理念形成明显的反差。服务要好，收费要低，空姐式服务，贫民式收费，市场经济的价值就这样淋漓尽致地体现出来。

　　印象之三公私不分还有经理

　　来陈笃生医院培训PACS，医院接待我们的是一位精明能干的经理，

　　而且是影像中心的经理，本想他可能等同我国医院科主任的角色吧。后来一打听他并非学医的，他上面还有科主任，他负责人事、接待、宣传等工作，帮科主任松绑，让科主任全身心地投入到业务工作之中。在clinicA及clinicB中同样我们看到了经理办公室，后来新加坡的一位朋友告诉我当地的医生出了名，就会去开私人诊所，而私人诊所是开在公立或私立大医院的门诊部，原来这些诊所是由经理来经营管理的，有点像商场的柜台出租。这也许就是按市场规则办事吧。

　　印象之四不预约看不到医生

　　预约看病在国内还很陌生，而来到了新加坡进行PACS培训多次强

　　调RS中预约登记部分，预约是高效文明的象征，在那里看病找医生必须预约，否则就得看急诊，急诊挂号费约人民币500元。做检查，急诊同样要收急诊费。 [医 学教 育网 搜集 整理]

　　印象之五沿着脚印走没错

　　来到陈笃生医院感觉医院很大，科室分布很多，但你并不会迷路，

　　影像中心的欧经理带我们到他的科室去参观，发现地上有很多脚印，写有不同科室的名称且标有不同色彩的脚印，寻找一个科室十分容易，沿着脚印走没错。
